Welcome to Lanark Community First Responders
Welcome to Lanark Community First Responders website. We operate in Lanark, Carluke, Blackwood, Lesmahagow, Douglas, Biggar and surrounding areas.
We are a Not for profit voluntary group, part of the Scottish Ambulance Service and we rely on the generosity of the local community and local businesses to raise funds to buy our equipment and help pay our running costs.
Community First Responders are volunteers who are trained by the Scottish Ambulance Service to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work. Their aim is to reach a potential life-threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the Ambulance crew arrives.
Their role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care until the more highly skilled Ambulance crew arrives on the scene to take over the treatment.
More About Lanark Community First Responders
Since starting in 2012, we have grown from strength to strength. The group was set up with the assistance of the Scottish Ambulance Service. It is based in Lanark for the care of Lanark’s community and is staffed by volunteers who live or work in Lanark.
Community Engagement
Our primary aim is to provide 24/7 voluntary coverage. However our Responders are also committed to positively engaging with the community through free awareness course on: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillators (AED), Anaphylaxis, etc.
If your group, company or organisation is interested please get in contact below.
Our responders will be able to pick up any enquiries sent within 48hrs of receiving the message.
AED Appeal
Lanark Community First Responders want to give back to the community we respond within.
One of the ways we have decided to give back is to organise PAD (Public Access Defibrillator) placement and to support the individuals that have PADs in the community.
Please click the button below to find out more.
Trained members of public
Lanark Community First Responders are committed to training the local community on CPR and how to use an AED.
As such Lanark Community First Responders want to recognise the comitment the local community has given.
See below for the number of people Lanark Community First Responders have trained since January 2023.
